I met a client for coffee this morning at Panera Bread and I had a flash back to the first time I was in a Panera.
I wanted to get a glass of water. So, I was looking for the little lever (usually located under the lemonade) on the soda dispenser that would give me water. I looked and I looked but I couldn’t find it. Finally I asked an employee for help.
He walked me over to the dispenser and pointed out the big label that said “water”. Wow!
My little story is a great example of how we so often see what we expect to see and are blind to things that we don’t expect to see.
I was so busy looking for the little lever that I expected to see that I didn’t see what was going on with the dispenser. I didn’t even consider the possibility that water would have the same amount of space as all the different flavors of soda.
I was completely blind to what was right in front of my face.
Again – we often see what we expect to see. So if you expect to see mediocre results, guess what you will see! And something that would take you to amazing results could be right in front of your face and you wouldn’t be able to see it.
It is time to upgrade what we expect to see!
Much love,
