The dilemma of asking for referrals

The dilemma of asking for referrals
Oftentimes reluctance to ask for referrals comes from our need for approval and not fully owning our value.
The head trash behind this goes something like this: If I really was good enough, then people would just naturally refer me. So, if I have to ask, that must mean that I’m not good enough. It is proof that I’m not good enough! And then what if I do ask but they don’t refer anyone – what must that mean?
So then, the whole thought of referrals and asking for them becomes a sticky mess that is just easier to ignore by not asking.
The antidote to this:
  • Approve of yourself
  • Own your value
  • Dare greatly, be bold, and ask for the referral regardless of whether it is uncomfortable simply because you know that it is the appropriate thing to do. Even if a prospect says “no” we can still ask them who they know that we should talk to.
Much Love,
Jonathan
