Intend and love what is
I’m salmon fishing on the Kenai River in Alaska.
My intention is to catch a lot of fish. And then we also have to deal with what life brings us. Sometimes there aren’t many fish moving up river. Sometimes fish get away.
I’ve fished many more hours today than I did yesterday and have caught far fewer fish than yesterday and had many more get off.
Yesterday was a spectacular day of fishing. Today – not so spectacular.
So several thoughts on this:
- Can I enjoy today as much as I enjoyed yesterday?
- Will I keep on fishing since circumstances do change?
- Do I make up any sort of victim story because the fish keep getting away?
- Am I smart enough to take a break and come back later?
- Do I catastrophize and think that the rest of the trip is doomed and that the salmon run is over?
- Can I maintain my intention of catching a lot of fish despite my low fish count for today?
- Do I fish again later or throw the towel in for the whole day?
Wait, am I talking about selling or fishing?
Fish on (what you yell to alert other fisherpeople so that they can get their lines out of the way or come net your fish for you)! Client on (what we could yell when we find someone that we can serve and contribute to while getting paid)!
Much Love,
