Inconvenience
So many people have a story about not wanting to inconvenience another person. This causes them to be reluctant to ask for help, reluctant to ask for the sale, reluctant to make their phone calls, reluctant to follow up, reluctant to ask for referrals, reluctant to ask for what they want . . .
But, we don’t actually have the ability to inconvenience another person. Being inconvenienced is a choice and being not inconvenienced is a choice too.
When we do any of the above listed activities, the other person has a choice about how they experience that. Anyone who experiences these as an inconvenience experiences lots of inconveniences in his or her life – it is not personal and we did not inconvenience them. They inconvenienced themselves.
