I just finished a live video event, SMART goals are a broken promise. Afterwards, I was in a bit of a weird space. I didn’t feel as in the flow as I normally do when I speak and so the invitation was there to get down on myself and to decide that I did not do a good job.
Rather than blindly accepting that invitation, I just noticed that it was there. I decided instead to wait and see.
I also reminded myself that whether I nailed it or not, I went for it. I dared greatly and put myself out there – and that is worth celebrating!!!
I also reminded myself that my whole intention in doing this video was to serve and contribute and that undoubtedly that energy is in this video (again whether I nailed it or not) and so to some degree or other I will have achieved that intention.
Well before I even had the chance to start writing this piece, I got a phone call thanking me for the webinar. And in my email inbox was this post from facebook, “Oh this was fantastic. This is so worth your time to get your head straight when making those goals. You are the best Jonathan. Thanks for making this available. Have already sent it out to a few folks and am about to post on the team page!”
If I had rushed to believe my thinking. I would have suffered. Instead, I remembered that we always have a choice about where we place our energy, focus, and attention. And, I made some choices that contributed to me.
