Bump and Swirl
We are hanging out at a coffee shop in Anchorage (because I’d much rather hang out here than at the airport).
Terry, an artist, had some of his work spread out on his table and we struck up a conversation. He used the phrase “BUMPANDSWIRL!” in talking about life and about his soon to be released children’s book.
I love this phrase! In life we are going to bump into things ~ unexpected developments, opposition, disappointment, and the like. But after that happens, we have a choice about what we do next. We can get bumped and then get flattened. We can get bumped and go into resistance. We can get bumped and then swirl, spinning around the obstacle and elegantly continuing to move forward. Or, we can swirl in a bold new direction.
The bumps are going to happen. It is a waste of our time and energy to resist them. Swirl instead.
Much Love,
Jonathan
