Better Off
People often get trapped in their heads about doing business and making sales. They question things like:
- Is it okay to sell?
- Am I taking this person’s money which leaves less for them?
- Is it okay to reach out to someone from my past simply to try and do business?
- Are they just going to think I’m after their money?
- Are they buying from pity or obligation? I don’t want that.
- And other lousy things . . .
There’s an easy way out of this trap. Commit to only doing business and closing sales when what you are offering makes that other person better off. Commit to win-win.
This now allows us a new perspective on sales – It is time for me to go make some people’s lives better!
My friend, Dr James Jackson, has built many highly successful businesses in both the for profit and non-profit worlds. In his soon to be released book, Better Off, he states, “We succeed only to the extent that we make other people better off.”
We can create a business of goodness!
