It is not about the words 
Sure, words matter. And, the energy and mindset behind the words communicate far more than the actual words.
For example, if I say some encouraging words like “we can do this” but I am coming from “people are idiots and they need to be managed or else they will screw up,” it is highly unlikely that people will feel encouraged.
If I say the same words but come from “people are competent and even amazing and sometimes they just need a little love and support,” chances are good that people will feel encouraged.
So, if your communication is not producing the results you want – check out where you are coming from. The “come from” needs to match the words for the communication to be congruent and effective.
