What does history have to do with anything?
Before the Super Bowl, I was mostly just hoping that the game would be close. As a life-long Broncos fan, I have watched my team get blown out 5 times (including the debacle of 2 years ago).
Super Bowl 12: Dallas Cowboys 27 Broncos 10
Super Bowl 21: New York Giants 39 Broncos 20
Super Bowl 22: Washington Redskins 42 Broncos 10
Super Bowl 24: San Francisco 49ers 55 Broncos 10
Super Bowl 48: Seattle Seahawks 43 Broncos 8
Even though I know that on any given day one team can beat another and that those loses from the past had no impact on today’s game, I was still concerned about the Broncos getting clobbered again.
Emotion, not logic, was running the show.
How often do we do this in life? We let our past determine how we feel about our chances today.
What a silly thing to do.
And in this process, I was also focusing on the bad and completely ignoring the good.
Super Bowl 32: Broncos 31 Green Bay Packers 24
Super Bowl 33: Broncos 34 Atlanta Falcons 19
How often do we do this in life?
What a silly thing to do.
Good thing the Broncos players weren’t doing what I was doing.
Super Bowl 50: Broncos 24 Carolina Panthers 10
