Self-condemnation is not a strategy for improvement

Self-Condemnation is not a Strategy for Improvement
Self-condemnation never has been nor ever will be a strategy for doing better or improving performance and results.  However, self-condemnation runs rampant in our world.
Pay attention today to how many times you say something negative to yourself. Then notice that each time we do that, it saps our energy a little bit. We become a little less happy. We believe in ourselves a little less. We feel a little less like being pro-active. And, all these little hits throughout the day add up to a big hit.
If this strategy actually worked and if self-condemnation actually did improve performance, then this behavior might make sense. But since it does not work, this behavior is destructive. It is also a learned habit which means that we can learn a different habit in its place – the habit of being kind to ourselves, loving ourselves, and accepting ourselves.

Much Love,

Jonathan
