Reporters and Artists
When we speak, we often think that we are a reporter – factually reporting on what we are observing.
But our words are much more like the artist’s brush – painting and creating our experience.
Think about something or someone that makes you mad and then say these three different things and notice how your experience changes:
I’m fuming mad about . . .
I’m slightly peeved about . . .
I’m giggling mad about . . .
You just created 3 very different experiences about the same thing. That makes you the artist not the reporter.
