Plumbing is Really Cool
A group of us were talking today and my friend mentioned how annoyed and upset her husband gets about paying taxes.
A bunch of people jumped in about being grateful. Highways are nice. Infrastructure is nice. Incomes are nice etc.
I asked the group, “Have any of you lived in a place where you had to fetch water?” They hadn’t, I have. (“Nagsakdo” = “I fetched water” in Tagalog – if I remember correctly). And let me tell you, I much prefer plumbing.
Normally I only had to go 2 houses down the street to get to the pump but during the dry season, I had to walk much farther and then carry the water up a fairly steep hill.
So yes, taxes (and other things like that) are an inevitable part of our lives. We don’t have to love them but we can certainly choose a story that brings our energy up rather than one that brings our energy down and has us throw the poop-covered-boomerang.
There’s always an uplifting or positive story that we can tell ourselves. There’s always a crappy and uninspiring story that we can tell ourselves. And, we get to choose.
Much Love,
