Counting Axe Swings
It isn’t about how many times we actually swing the axe. It is about how big of a pile of fire wood we create.
A dull axe doesn’t split very much wood. People often forget this and get caught up in the trap of busy-ness. They don’t make the time for self-care, for fun, and for enjoying life. They don’t sharpen their axe. Then they end up tired, worn out, burned out, and uninspired and for all that time and effort have very little to show for it.
Richard Branson said it so well, “Don’t think of fun as a reward, think of it as a responsibility.”
If you want to be your best, you have to enjoy life. The happiness advantage is a real thing.
Remember that the self-care and the play that sharpens your axe is an essential success strategy.
