Addicted to Why
“Why” is seldom a useful question to ask but people love to ask that question. Why am I this way? Why is this happening to me? Why . . . ?
Even if you actually answer that question (and the chances of accurately answering that question are slim indeed), it does not move you forward. So all that energy and effort spent answering “why” is wasted energy and effort.
A much more useful question to ask yourself is something like: What do I want? Where do I want to go from here? What can I do right now to move me forward?
Why usually also implies that it shouldn’t be the way it is which has us arguing with reality.
Break your addiction to why and just start dealing with what is. This will allow you to create the life you want to live.
