Puncture wounds

This year for the first time, they mulched the trees around the sand volleyball courts with wood chips.

Of course the kids bring the wood chips into the sand.

So every time that I play, I clear wood chips out of the sand.

On Saturday I gave a handful of rescued wood chips to one of the staff guys and asked him to tell his supervisor. I told him that it was only a matter of time until someone stepped on one of these sharp pieces and gets hurt.

On Sunday, the facility manager came and talked to us before we started playing. So, I did a quick walk around and found a handful of wood chips. I gave him the chips and repeated my story about how it is only a matter of time until someone gets hurt – whether it is a volleyball player or a kid playing in the sand – and someone could easily sue if they got hurt bad enough.

I even volunteered to remove the wood chip mulch myself for the sake of safety because as long as the chips are there, kids will play with them.

Law of Attraction 101 tells us to be careful about what we focus on because that is what we are inviting into our lives. Well, I didn’t draw blood on the bottom of my foot just once, I managed to do it twice.

As I said, it is only a matter of time until someone gets hurt.

Perhaps I should have emphasized keeping everyone safe!

This is such an easy trap for us to fall into. Focus on what you do want rather than on what you do not want!
