Imaginary Debt

Imaginary Debt

People often mistakenly think that they owe someone something which keeps them stuck where they are.

For example, I cannot quit my job even though I don’t want to be here because I owe them for hiring me in the first place. No I don’t owe them anything. The ledger is balanced. I agreed to work and they agreed to pay me and that is what we have been doing for years.

This false owing can also show up in our relationships and in other areas of our lives.

This is not an argument against gratitude, appreciation, and reciprocity but against putting ourselves into a powerless state of bondage.

Feeling an owing that has you not act in your own best interest is bondage.

Much Love,
