Cost or Benefit
Our course of action is often determined by whether we are focusing on the cost or on the benefit.
Over the years, I’ve encountered many people who are stuck and frustrated and desperately want different results. However, they talk themselves out of doing anything about it because they focus on the costs – money, time, discomfort, etc. – instead of the benefits – business and income growth, freedom, happiness, fulfillment, etc.
Yes we need to be wise about our choices and get value for the money we spend. And that wisdom also includes knowing what is money well spent and understanding the leverage of money well spent.
What about exercise? If I focus on the costs – time, discomfort, sweat, soreness, etc. – I’m not going to want to work out. If I focus on the benefits – looking good, feeling good, increased energy and well-being, health, etc. – I’m going to want to exercise.
What about healthy eating? If I focus on the costs – limited choices, restriction, deprivation, no comfort-foods, etc. – I’m not going to want to make healthy eating choices. If I focus on the benefits – Increased energy, weight loss, health and well-being, etc. I am going to want to eat healthy.
What are you focusing on ~ costs or benefits?
