Bungee cords and ladders
Imagine having a bunch of bungee cords with one end attached to your waist and the other attached to the ground. Then imagine trying to climb a ladder. With each step up, the tension increases until “wham” you find yourself flat on your back on the ground. After a bit, you get up and try to climb the ladder again. But the same thing happens.
This is a pretty good metaphor for what often happens when people try to do better. And, those bungee cords are our self-image. The strongest bungee cords are things like: not worthy, not enough, I’m just average, I don’t belong, etc. This head trash can (and does) knock people flat on their backs over and over again.
Until the bungee cords are taken care of (by work in the personal growth gym) people won’t hit higher levels on the ladder of success, or the ladder of happiness.
Much Love,
Jonathan
