What’s worth changing for?
Change, in the short term, tends to bring uncertainty, unfamiliarity, and discomfort. There are parts of our brain that do not want us to change because those parts see change as a threat to safety. This can make change undesirable and or challenging.
However, creating better lives and greater success requires change.
So, we need to know what is worth changing for. What is worth going through that discomfort and uncertainty?
In order to know that, we have to engage in introspection to discover what we truly care for, are willing to fight for, and are willing to be uncomfortable for.
The challenge with this is that introspection is not exactly the great American past time. Distraction is much more popular than introspection.
Once we know what is worth changing for (what really matters), then we need to connect that motivator to our performance. Are our behaviors and activities in line with what really matters to us? If not, then it is time to adjust them.
Much Love,
Jonathan
