That’s not my project
It is impossible for us to be responsible for anyone’s mental, emotional, physical, or spiritual well-being because we are not in control of their brain.
But, we often try to be responsible. And when we do, we inevitably end up suffering.
My mom is having challenges in all these areas as she’s adapting to her new post-stroke lifestyle. And if I’m not careful, I can easily end up suffering because of her struggles. But, her mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being is not my project. That’s between her and God.
So, I need to let go of that (unless I want to suffer) and then take on the projects that are mine to take on – like adapting her home, helping her to gather info about whether to stay at home or move into assisted living, letting her know that I love her, spending time with her, and things like that.
If I try to take on those projects that aren’t mine to take on, then I’ll become heavy. And if I’m heavy then I’ll bring heaviness to the time I spend with mom – and that will not benefit either of us.
Are you trying to be the project manager of any projects that are not yours to manage?
Much Love,
Jonathan
