Sprinklers and Insurance
Sprinklers and insurance – how do those two go together?
A friend of a friend is an insurance guy. He also really enjoys doing lawn sprinkler work. It is like a paid hobby for him. And, the sprinkler work generates a lot of insurance business for him.
So why am I sharing this story? All things being equal, people want to do business with people that they know, like, and trust.
The sprinkler work gives him an opportunity to connect with people, to have relaxed conversations with his customers, to provide reliable and effective service, and he enjoys what he does which makes him enjoyable to be around. Consequently, he easily develops those know, like, and trust relationships. So when people see an opportunity to do more business with him, they take it.
So the moral of this story is that we should all have paid hobbies. Okay maybe not (although that isn’t a bad idea).
The moral of this story is to ask ourselves, “Am I developing these know, like, and trust relationships?” And, how could I do this better?
Much Love,
