Shoulds hold us in the past
That should not have happened! I should have made a different choice! He shouldn’t have done that! I should be doing better. And so on . . .
As long as that should is there in our thinking, we are looking at the past and consequently we are severely limited in our ability to move forward, to create something new. If we want to walk north but keep facing south, how well will that work?
Over the years I’ve worked with many people who are stuck and incapable of moving forward towards the results that they want because they are trapped by the past and by what should be different.
“Should” is an amazingly toxic and damaging word.
Look for the shoulds in your life and then do what you need to do to let go of them and set yourself free.
Much Love,
