Safer to Disengage
This little head trash gem, “It is safer to disengage” creates a lot of hesitation, procrastination, and avoidance. Countless dreams have died from this. After all, safety and survival is the number one human need so if it is not safe to engage, we probably won’t engage.
Pay attention to your body and then say out loud, “It is safer to disengage” pause and then say, “It is safe to engage.” Which of those two phrases feels truer?
It could be safer to disengage because:
- It isn’t possible for me so why bother trying
- I’m worried about what people will think of me if I put myself out there
- If I try and fail that will definitely prove that I am not enough
- What if I put it out there and no one is interested
- And more.
If it is safer to disengage, we will disengage. So if we want our engagement levels to change, we must spend some time in the personal growth gym. We must upgrade our belief to “It is safe to engage.”
And, no one has ever created an amazing and fulfilling life by playing small and staying disengaged.
Much Love,
Jonathan
