I’m OK so give the glory away
Project CURE had its volunteer appreciation lunch today where Millie, Barb, and Dave received the Lifetime Achievement Award for over 10,000 volunteer hours (and I’m sure they have a lot more hours of service than that).
First of all, how amazing is that! 10,000+ hours devoted to kindness, doing good, being of service and making a difference!!! They are heroes!
Secondly, Millie is always great at acknowledging the contributions of other volunteers and dishing out praise and thanks. But, every time that I’ve tried to acknowledge Millie for all that she does for Project CURE, she says something like – That’s just what we do (Dave is her husband). Or, it is a God thing.
So, Millie could possibly have some head trash about receiving that kind of attention. But I think it is more that she knows that she is OK, so she doesn’t need that sort of external validation to feel OK about herself. Therefore, she’d rather give the glory away and in doing that she blesses other people. She makes others feel good about themselves.
When we operate from being OK, then we can give the glory away and in so doing, make this world a better place.
Much Love,
Jonathan
