Fast cars and slow drivers
Imagine that Bob decides to get into car racing.
He keeps losing. And after every loss, Bob buys some part that will make his car go faster.
But, he continues to lose and by now he has spent a lot of money on his car (far too much according to his wife and his budget). Bob doesn’t even know what else he could possibly do to make that car go faster. Bob is frustrated and the whole car racing thing isn’t turning out to be the wonderful experience that he thought it would be.
Then Bob runs into someone like me and learns about head trash, limiting beliefs, and the difference between being and doing.
Bob now sees that below the surface, he is scared to drive fast. He now realizes that no amount of money spent on that car will help him win races until he takes care of his head trash. That is what has been holding him back, not his car.
Yes, the car is important but the driver matters more. Let’s get the driver taken care of before we start tinkering with the car.
Are you spending your time working on the car or on the driver? Most people are like Bob, they are working on their cars.
p.s. – an ask: I’m shaving my head on March 10 with St Baldricks for childhood cancer research. All donations are greatly appreciated! stbaldricks.org/participants/ jonathanmanske2017
