Circumstances
I received an email asking about dealing with a circumstance. Here’s my answer:
Regardless of the stimulus or the circumstance (no matter how true, real, or justified it seems) – any time that we close our hearts, we lose. Never have I closed my heart and had my life get better. Never.
Yes, unpleasant and unfair stuff happens in our lives and it is easy to justify our stories about why we closed our hearts. But again, a closed heart is a closed heart – a place where joy and happiness does not exist, a place where it is easier to take things personally and get upset again.
Keeping our hearts open independent of the circumstances is easy to talk about and harder to do in real life. However, the stakes are very high – the quality of our lives is literally what is at stake in these times.
Much Love,
Jonathan
