Breaking the sound barrier of success
The other day a client was talking about how every time that he’s gotten really busy in his business, he’s backed off with the thought that he needed to take a break.
This made me think about the pilots who were trying to break the sound barrier. When they got close to the speed of sound, their planes experienced buffeting and even control issues. I’d imagine that the temptation to slow down was very strong. But obviously, if they slowed down, they had no chance to break the sound barrier.
When we start doing better than we know ourselves to be, we also experience buffeting and turbulence. This discomfort creates a strong temptation to throttle back and slow down. But obviously, if we slow down, we won’t have that breakthrough to unprecedented results.
In the face of discomfort, buffeting, and turbulence, we need to keep our foot on the gas rather than slowing down – even though it is uncomfortable.
Much Love,
Jonathan
