Introductions, Thank You, and Head Trash
I recently introduced two people who I thought had a great chance at being able to generate business for each other.
I haven’t heard a word of thanks from either of them. Guess how inspired I am to make more introductions for them. Not very. I have a list of 10 more people for the one guy that I’m hesitating to take action on.
So what happened? Of course there is the possibility that my emails ended up in their spam folders. But more likely is that my emails ended up in their head trash folder and that they haven’t taken any action on the email yet (ever).
It is a pretty safe bet that when we avoid action we are under the influence of head trash.
- It isn’t possible so why bother
- They won’t be interested
- I don’t want to bother then
- Not sure that I have value to offer
- And many other ugly possibilities
If you have some introductions that you haven’t taken action on, this is a great time to use the million-dollar question ~ “Based on my behavior here, what must I believe?” Then once we see that lousy disempowering story, we can upgrade.
And, take care of those people who are making the introductions. Thank them.
p.s. I know that I have done this before so if I did it to you, I apologize for not saying thanks.
Much Love,
