100 times an hour
Here’s an odd thing: People have no problem saying the same lousy negative thing to themselves over and over and over and over and over… For example, someone makes a mistake and then over and over they say, “I’m such an idiot!”
Now how in the world does this help? Does it build confidence? No! Does it change the past? No! Does it make us feel better? No! Does it prevent future mistakes? No! Does it create happiness? Heck no!
So what might happen if we used the 100 times an hour strategy and said something kind, supportive, or inspiring to ourselves.
What if we kept telling ourselves things like:
- I’m pretty darn amazing
- I am a good person
- I approve of me
- I can do this
- I truly am blessed
- Etc.
Give it a try and see what happens.
p.s. the key to this is to figure out how to remind yourself to do it ~ post it notes, phone alarms etc.
