Straw that Broke the Camel’s Back
The best way to prevent a single straw from breaking the camel’s back is to lighten the load far before the camel’s breaking point.
Another analogy along the same lines – if my cup is full to the brim, one more drop will cause overflow. But if I’ve emptied my cup, then I have the capacity to receive a lot of drops before reaching overflow.
So, how good are we at lightening the load, emptying the cup, letting go of the little annoyances? Or do we let things build up until we are at capacity and then have emotional overflow when the next thing happens?
Most of us would benefit from more frequent letting go work. In fact, this is a fantastic daily practice – check in with yourself and see where you are hanging on to something. Then let it go and set yourself free.
Much Love,
Jonathan
