Relax your way to success
We were tossing a frisbee last night and – my daughter’s tossing has room for improvement. She was muscling up and trying too hard rather than letting aerodynamics do its job.
From my limited golf experience, I know that muscling up and trying too hard pretty much guarantees a shank. Instead, we want to let the club head do its job.
Skiing becomes a heck of a lot easier when we relax and let the skies do their job rather than muscling, efforting, and trying hard on our turns.
On our recent cruise, we went snorkeling. It had been a long time since I snorkeled. So at first, I wasn’t very relaxed and felt uncomfortable with that saltiness in my throat. Then I remembered to relax. After that, I was able to go deeper, stay under longer, and move with greater efficiency.
In these examples, when we relax rather than muscle up, things became easier, more enjoyable, and we become more effective and competent.
Where else in our lives are we muscling up when relaxing would serve us much better?
Much Love,
Jonathan
