Roses and Volleyballs
It has been unseasonably warm here this February. My volleyball friends and I have taken advantage of this and have played quite a bit of sand doubles.
Although we all enjoy getting out there and playing, BK seems to appreciate it more. Every time when we are packing up to go home, BK expresses gratitude for the experience – the weather, the comradery, and the volleyball.
BK broke his leg a couple of years ago, and for a while he thought he might never be able to play again.
While the rest of us are somewhat taking our ability and opportunity to play for granted, BK isn’t. He’s stopping to smell the roses. He’s stopping to appreciate what he has.
We could all learn a lesson from BK.
p.s. – an ask: I’m shaving my head on March 10 with St Baldricks for childhood cancer research. All donations are greatly appreciated! stbaldricks.org/participants/ jonathanmanske2017
