Blind Spots
We often see only what we are predisposed to see.
I remember the first time I ever went to Panera Bread. I wanted some water but could not find where to get it. I was looking for the little water lever that is usually underneath the lemonade spout on the soda dispenser. Finally I asked an employee where I could get some water. He walked me over to the soda dispenser and pointed out the big blue button labeled “water” (see picture below).
Because I had already predetermined how it was supposed to look, I created a blind spot. I could not see what was there because I was too busy looking for how I knew it was supposed to be.
Where are you doing this in your business or in your life?
